Requirements
Four things every CSEP application needs to line up.
Eligible occupation
The role must appear on the Critical Skills Occupations List, or otherwise meet the higher salary threshold applied to other occupations. The list is updated periodically to reflect skills shortages in the Irish economy.
Minimum annual remuneration
A minimum annual salary threshold applies, and is higher for roles outside the Critical Skills List. The threshold is set by government and changes over time — always verify with counsel before making offers.
Employment contract
A signed contract of employment with an Irish-registered employer, typically of at least two years' duration, is required. The role must be genuine, full-time and match the permit application.
Qualifications and evidence
Degree certificates, references and, where relevant, professional registration must be assembled and — for overseas documents — sometimes authenticated. Evidence gaps are the most common cause of delay.
Sequencing

Weeks -8 to -6
Offer alignment, salary sanity-check against thresholds, initial evidence request to the candidate.
Weeks -6 to -4
Employer documentation, application preparation, evidence pack finalisation with immigration counsel.
Weeks -4 to -1
Application submission, response to any queries, planning for arrival (housing shortlisting, schools if applicable, tax briefing).
On approval
D-visa where required, travel, GNIB / immigration registration, PPS, bank, GP, utilities — coordinated in the correct order.
